We recently had the pleasure of photographing a classic New York wedding. Jen and Andrew live in the financial district of lower Manhattan and they were married at Bayard’s India House in Hanover Square, two short blocks from their home. It was an intimate celebration with a small group of family and friends. Here are a few images from their story:

Meghan and Rich had really fantastic wedding earlier this spring at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. We began the day at the historic Maryland Inn in old town Annapolis. On our way to the Academy we stopped at a great little record shop (see the above photo) to peruse the vinyl collection. A few weeks ago we had the great pleasure of photographing a most excellent celebration at the Woodend Sanctuary in Chevy Chase, Maryland. Lopaka and Jocelyn were married on a gorgeous fall day among an intimate gathering of family and friends. We also did a fun engagement shoot with Lopaka and Jocelyn at the 18th Street Lounge earlier this year. The wedding day was amazing and the brilliant energy and beautiful setting made our jobs an absolute pleasure. Here are a few images from their story:

Nicole and Megan were married at the stylish Dupont Circle Hotel in the heart of Washington, DC. This was a celebration of celebrations. There was such amazing energy throughout the day and we had a great time photographing. Here are a collection of images from their story:

It was Labor Day weekend. Think: Chinese Dragons, bicycle taxis, croquet, badminton, cocktails, dancing, frisbee, and a spectacular outdoor ceremony at the stately Dumbarton House in NW Washington, DC. This was Verinda and David’s wedding celebration. We had a great time documenting all the festivities and here are a few images from their story. We also did a really fun engagement shoot with David and Verinda and their adventurous pup, Dumbo, near Jack’s Boathouse. The Potomac River water front near Jack’s Boathouse in Georgetown is a really spectacular setting for photo making. I recently had a great photo adventure there with David and Verinda (and their dog, Dumbo). We did a fun mix of settings and locations including the waterfront near Jack’s boathouse and a heavily graffiti’d bluff overlooking the river. David and Verinda are avid cyclists and we incorporated them riding their bikes in the photo shoot. Here’s a few images from their story …

I had the great pleasure of photographing Rush and Jessica’s wedding at the Hotel Monaco – just across the street from the American Art Museum in downtown Washington, DC. It was a wonderful celebration and here are a few images from their story:

We recently photographed Julie and Alex’s wedding in the heart of Washington, DC. The bridal party got ready at the Dupont Circle Hotel – just a few steps away from the site of the reception – The Washington Club in Dupont Circle. The ceremony was at the Holy Rosary Church.

At the end of June I was sitting in my office and the phone rang. The man on the other end introduced himself as Konrad and explained that he was planning to propose to his girlfriend, Stephanie, on the rooftop of the Newseum. “She thinks I’m in Africa,” he told me, “and I’d really like a professional there to capture it all.” Of course, I agreed. It was a really wonderful evening. Here are some photos from their story and a bit of a written narrative in Konrad’s words:

According to Konrad, “I was traveling around Africa and gave Stephanie a fake flight itinerary that said I wasn’t coming back for another couple weeks. I told her that I wanted to do something nice for her since I couldn’t be there and created an adventure for her with the help of a few people locally.

I wrote a fairy tale based on our relationship that included many of our special places in Washington DC and Arlington. It was a sophisticated scavenger hunt: each spot had the next page of the fairy tale, a clue, pictures made to look like old paintings and a small present (e.g., her favorite car rented for the day to drive them around, her favorite foods, a penguin adopted in her name, etc.) …

“After traveling around to the place we first met, our first date, our first kiss, the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, a picnic by the Washington Monument and a few other special places, she found a clue at the Newseum. The clue instructed her to find the best views of the city and always be kind to strangers. She immediately thought of the Newseum, but it was closed so she quickly began brainstorming other options. However, in the spirit of being kind to strangers, Stephanie and my sister (who was driving her around all day) told a lady sitting nearby that they really liked her dress. They started talking about the scavenger hunt and the best views in the city. The lady, Sonya, worked at the Newseum and was in on the whole plan. She offered to take them to the private events balcony at the top of the museum so she could take a picture for the book. She excitingly went to the top and Drew – who was pretending to take scenery pictures from the recent wedding – offered to take a picture for her scavenger hunt. He mentioned that he had a cool idea for a long-exposure shot and told her to face the capital building . At that moment, he signaled me to come out of the building and I came out to surprise Stephanie. I got down on one knee to propose and she said yes!”
